Business consulting that fixes the actual problem

Most companies know something is off. Revenue plateaus, costs creep up, or a new market feels just out of reach. We sit with your numbers, your people, and your operations until we find the root cause. Then we build a plan you can execute without us.

Symptoms we hear every week

  • Margins are shrinking but nobody can explain why
  • The leadership team disagrees on where to invest next
  • New hires leave within eight months
  • Sales grew 30% last year, but profit barely moved
  • Reporting takes days and still feels unreliable

What changes after we work together

  • A clear cost map showing where money actually goes
  • One strategic plan the whole board has signed off on
  • Retention improvements tied to specific management changes
  • Pricing and margin analysis by product line, not just totals
  • Dashboards your team builds and trusts themselves

What we do

Four practice areas, each staffed by people who have held the roles they now advise on.

Operational review

We map your workflows from purchase order to delivery, interview the people who run them, and flag bottlenecks that cost you time or money. A typical review takes four to six weeks and produces a prioritised action list your ops team can start on immediately.

Financial strategy

Cash flow forecasting, capital structure analysis, and pricing reviews. We work with your finance director (or act as a fractional one) to build models that answer real questions: should you lease or buy, hire or outsource, expand now or wait?

People and culture

High turnover, low engagement scores, or a leadership gap after a founder steps back. We diagnose the human side of the business through structured interviews, compensation benchmarking, and management coaching programmes that run for 90 days.

Growth planning

Entering a new geography? Launching a second product line? We build go-to-market plans grounded in competitor data, customer research, and realistic financial projections. No slide decks full of buzzwords; you get a spreadsheet, a timeline, and a risk register.

Five steps from first call to measurable results

Listen

A 45-minute call where you describe the situation in your own words. No forms, no intake questionnaires.

Diagnose

We spend one to two weeks inside your data, talking to key staff, and reviewing documents you already have.

Propose

You receive a written findings report with costed recommendations ranked by impact and effort.

Implement

We work alongside your team for the agreed engagement period, handling the changes together.

Measure

At 60 and 120 days we review KPIs against baseline. If something hasn't moved, we adjust the plan.

The Reliable Solutions consulting team in discussion

Who we are

Reliable Solutions Consult started in 2014 when two former operations directors realised that most consulting advice they had received over the years was too abstract to act on. Reports gathered dust. Recommendations ignored the budget. Nobody followed up.

We built a practice around the opposite approach. Our team of seven consultants has a combined 85 years of in-house management experience across manufacturing, professional services, retail, and technology. Every project has a named lead who stays with you from kick-off to final review.

Our office sits in central Manchester, but we work with clients across the North West, the Midlands, and London. About a third of our engagements are fully remote.

Common questions

Most projects fall between £8,000 and £35,000 depending on scope and duration. We quote a fixed fee after the diagnostic phase so there are no surprises. The initial discovery call is free.

Our clients range from owner-managed firms with ten employees to divisions of FTSE 250 companies. The common thread is a willingness to act on what we find, not company size.

We have deep experience in professional services, light manufacturing, e-commerce, and B2B technology. That said, about 20% of our work sits outside those verticals. Operational and financial principles transfer well across sectors.

The diagnostic phase runs one to three weeks. Implementation engagements typically last three to six months. Some clients retain us on a quarterly review basis after the main project ends.

Yes. After our initial conversation we can connect you with two or three former clients in a similar sector or situation. We ask their permission first, so allow a few days.

We measure outcomes at 60 and 120 days. If a recommendation hasn't moved the needle, we revise the approach at no extra charge within the agreed engagement period.
